Mathiesen has been promoting cruise activity at Flåm AS where she worked closely with Aurland Harbour Authority and local businesses on product development and the marketing of Flåm as a year-round cruise destination.
Previously she spent twelve years at Norwegian Cruise Line in different roles, including purser on board, Miami port agent, and finally manager port operations with financial and operational responsibility for more than 200 ports worldwide.
Talking about her hometown Mathiesen said, 'The city has so much to offer, and sailing through the Oslo Fjord is a fantastic experience. I look forward to building Oslo's reputation as a must-see cruise destination in collaboration with the representatives for the city's many great sites.'
Oslo is expecting 101 calls and over 200,000 passengers in 2017 but in recent years traffic has been dropping from a peak in 2011 when 173 vessels bought 312,000 cruise visitors to the city.
In addition to increasing the number of cruise ships visiting Oslo, Mathiesen says she will be focusing on making the Norwegian capital a year-round destination as well as attracting home porting business.
