‘As renowned experts in the culinary world, we know John Torode, Phil Vickery and Oz Clarke will be thoroughly welcomed by our guests,’ said Nigel Blanks, CEO at Saga Cruises. ‘Fine dining and wine are a real passion for many of our customers, so these events are always popular, and we’re delighted to have Phil and Oz joining us again, and to welcome John for the first time.’

John Torode

Torode is known as a straight-talking co-host and judge on MasterChef and Celebrity MasterChef, and is a regular guest chef on This Morning, as well as co-hosting with his wife, Lisa Faulkner, on ITV’s John & Lisa's Weekend Kitchen. He was awarded an MBE in 2022 for services to food, broadcast and charity, and he has published a range of cookery books.

He will join Spirit of Discovery’s 14-night ‘Flavours of France, Spain and Portugal’ cruise, which leaves from Dover on August 6. The ship will call at Lisbon and Portimão in Portugal, La Coruña and Santander in Spain, and Bordeaux and Brest in France, returning to Dover via the Isles of Scilly.

Over the course of the voyage, Torode will give two talks, deliver cooking demonstrations using flavours of the region, and host Q&A sessions.

A small number of cabins are still available to book at prices starting from £4,161 per person.

Oz Clarke

Clarke is one of the world’s leading wine experts, recognized for presenting the long running TV series, ‘Food and Drink’ and a host of other TV shows. Regularly featuring on Saga’s river cruises, he will join the line’s ‘Cape Verde and the Canary Islands’ cruise leaving November 13 from Portsmouth on Spirit of Adventure, where he will host a talk and a Q&A session for passengers.

The 21-night itinerary will see the ship call at the island of Madeira, Portugal followed by the Canary Islands for exploration of Santa Cruz de la Palma and La Gomera before setting sail for the Cape Verde archipelago where passengers can visit the capitals of Praia and Mindelo. Heading back to the Canaries, the ship will call at Tenerife’s capital Santa Cruz and Arrecife in Lanzarote, before returning to Portsmouth via Cádiz and La Coruña, Spain. Prices start at £4,150 per person.

Phil Vickery
