Lindblad furloughs 130 employees, cuts workload/pay of others

Lindblad Expeditions became the latest cruise operator to furlough employees to cope with the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today approximately 130 employees were furloughed and 55 others received a reduction in workload of at least 50%. Additionally, the salaries of all remaining employees will be reduced 15% to 20%.

Sven Lindblad forgoes salary

CEO Sven Lindblad will forgo 100% of his salary during the COVID-19 crisis.

Health benefits continue

Furloughed employees will continue to be provided with health care benefits through at least Sept. 30, with the company paying 100% of their premiums.

Because these furloughs and workload reductions are related to the effects of pandemic on its business, Lindblad Expeditions anticipates furloughed and reduced workload employees are eligible for unemployment compensation, subject to applicable federal and state laws.
