The ship, acquired last March and chartered back to Seabourn through August 2024, will join the 1990-built, 22,472gt Nippon Maru.
2025 world cruise
In addition, Mitsui Ocean Fuji will embark on a world cruise in April 2025.
As part of its "Blue Action 2035' plan announced in March, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Group is diversifying its portfolio to offset commercial shipping volatility. To this end, it will focus heavily on the cruise business, which it called a 'stable and profitable industry that is not affected by the same market conditions.'
More international customers and newbuilds
As earlier reported, the Group intends to expand its travel business and base of international customers, including inbound, in addition to domestic customers, by launching several new cruise ships. Already, in November 2022, the Group declared its intent to build a pair of approximately 35,000gt, 600-passenger ships, the first expected to be delivered around 2027.

Further information on Mitsui Ocean Cruises is expected to emerge at Seatrade Cruise Asia Pacific in Hong Kong, Oct. 24-26 when Shoichiro Yamashita, head of cruise business unit, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, appears on the Oct. 25 keynote panel.
The company has also scheduled a news conference during the event.
