Bermello Ajamil & Partners announced a new director of engineering for its Ports and Maritime Division who will be based in the firm’s New York Office. Daniel Ramos brings more than 10 years of experience as a waterfront structural engineer.

Expertise in marine structures and terminals

Ramos has been responsible for all phases of analysis and design, from concept development to the delivery of detailed construction documents. His past designs encompass a broad range of marine structures including piers, wharves, ferry terminals, marinas, marine oil terminals, flood barrier structures, diversion structures, bulkheads and dolphin structures.

Projects in New York, New Jersey, San Diego, New Orleans

Prior to joining B&A, Ramos designed and managed many high-profile marine structure projects. Among them are Tompkinsville Esplanade and Pier, Battery Wharf Rehabilitation, Manhattan Cruise Terminals Piers 88 and 90 Substructure Rehabilitation – Phase III, Holland Tunnel Demolition and Reconstruction of Piers 9/204 — all in New York and New Jersey.

As well, he was involved with the United States Navy Pier 12 Replacement and Pier 13 Upgrade in San Diego, and the USACE Inner Harbor Navigation Canal Surge Barrier in New Orleans.

‘It’s exciting to have Daniel taking on this role in our growing Marine Structural Engineering Group,’ said B&A's Mark Ittel, SVP Ports and Maritime. ‘His knowledge and experience will complement the roots already established by our existing team.’

Ramos is licensed as a professional engineer in California and New York, and serves as an Earthquake Safety Assessment Program evaluator.
