Celebrity Eclipse will also offer a 'Signature Event Sailing' during Carnaval in Rio
For the first time Celebrity Cruises is sending a Solstice-class ship, Celebrity Eclipse, to South America, with two of the departures featuring scenic Antarctica cruising.

The 2018/19 season includes two Argentina round-trips that offer the Antarctica highlight. Plus, Celebrity Eclipse will operate a pair of 14-night sailings between Chile and Argentina and a 10-night cruise to Brazil from Buenos Aires.

An 11-night 'Signature Event Sailing' includes a double overnight stay at Rio de Janeiro to experience Carnaval.

Cultural offerings to bring the destination to life on board include Argentine tango classes, authentic Latin American cuisine and wine tastings.

Passengers also can go on chef-led shore excursions to markets in various countries, including Argentina and Uruguay.

For the Port of Buenos Aires, the business means a hefty increase in passengers and calls from Celebrity, from four stops on Celebrity Infinity to seven with the larger Celebrity Eclipse. Puerto Madryn and Ushuaia will also get more business.

Pablo Tsolis, director of port agency Navijet SA, credited the help and cooperation of the Port of Buenos Aires, Argentina's Ministry of Transport and other ministries and agencies, the provincial governments of Chubut and Tierra del Fuego and their port authorities, as well as the private sector.
