Chen XinChuan, General Manager of COSCO Shipping (Xiamen), currently visiting the UK, paid a visit to Southampton Friday to take a look at Oriana, now owned by Chinese start up Twinkle Travel Cruise, a jv between China Travel Service (CTS) and China COSCO Shipping Corp Ltd (COSCO Shipping) and currently sailing on a bareboat charter to seller, P&O Cruises.

Ship to be named Piano Land

The 1,818 lower berth ship will be handed over to the new Chinese start up in mid-August 2019 and then refitted in Greece before starting operations from Xiamen in mid-September 2019, under her new name Piano Land.

The inspiration for the ship’s name is taken from Gulangyu Island located just five minutes sailing from Xiamen City., where the ship will be homeported, Chen told Seatrade.

A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, Gulangyu is also known as the ‘Island of Music’ because of its reputation for music appreciation and a popular tourist attraction is the Piano Museum.
