300 ports
With the addition of Azamara Pursuit, 'We go to 300 ports, 200 of which sister brands (Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises) don't go to,' Pawlus noted. (New sister brand Silversea visits many more, however it fields a greater number of smaller ships that can access more places, with an expedition fleet that seeks the most remote destinations.)
Pawlus said Azamara will make 40 maiden calls in 2019 and 40 in 2020.
More country-intensive cruises
Among the new destination highlights in the 2020 program, announced earlier this year, are South Africa, with 10-day round-trips from Cape Town that can be paired with pre-/post-cruise land trips designed by Micato Safaris. Further new itineraries that bolster the brand's country-intensive programs—which include Greece, Italy, Spain, Cuba and Japan—are a pair of 12-night 'Ireland Intensive' itineraries, an 11-night 'Scotland Intensive' cruise and 13- and 15-night 'Iceland Intensive' sailings in 2020.
And, for the first time, Azamara will be visiting French Polynesia and Hawaii.
A third ship 'allows you to do the tried and true,' veteran itinerary planner Pawlus said, while spicing things up with some new choices in the destination immersion style Azamara espouses.
