Will Concordia impact Royal’s Project Sunshine option?
Is the Costa Concordia tragedy affecting Royal Caribbean’s thinking on whether to take up its Project Sunshine option, expiring this month?

It is unlikely to play any factor, chairman and ceo Richard Fain told analysts in today’s earnings call, in response to a question from UBS Investment’s Robin Farley.

Fain steered clear of any specifics on the option for a 158,000gt newbuild for 2015 delivery that would be a sister to a 2014 Project Sunshine ship. The one-plus-one deal with Meyer Werft was inked last February.

But the Royal Caribbean chief reiterated comments made several times during the call, that the company does not expect any significant long-term impact from Costa Concordia on its business.
