A Sea Cloud II cruise in partnership with George Washington’s Mount Vernon hones in on Washington's only international travels, to the Lesser Antilles and Barbados.

Rear Adm. Peter Cressy, director of executive leadership programs at the George Washington Leadership Institute, will host the Barbados to St. Maarten sailing, Feb. 18-25, 2025.

Bringing history to life

'President Washington sailed the Caribbean with his older brother and drafted a detailed diary of his only explorations outside what would be become the United States of America,' Cressy said. 'Speaking on board the Sea Cloud II will bring this history to life in an unrivaled setting and create lasting memories for all.'

Cressy, who served in the US Navy including the Caribbean during the Cold War, will lead discussions and present a lecture on 'Washington, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Churchill: A Strategic Approach to Leading in Times of Crisis.'

And, as a longtime CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council, Cressy will lead a tasting of Mount Vernon’s own rum from the estate distillery.

'History and perseverance permeate throughout the Sea Cloud Cruises fleet and collaborations with aligned institutions like Mount Vernon further elevate our authentic sailing experience,' said Mirell Reyes, president of Sea Cloud Cruises North America.

Sea Cloud II's Lesser Antilles and Grenadines itinerary will call at Port Elizabeth, Bequia; Chatham Bay, Union Island; Soufriere, St. Lucia; Cabrits, Dominica and Gustavia, St. Barthélemy with a full day under sale.

Following 28 years in the US Navy in command and senior staff positions, Cressy spent eight years as a college president, university chancellor and professor of management. He later spent 16 years as president/CEO of the Distilled Spirits Council. He has been the director of executive leadership programs at the George Washington Leadership Institute for eight years.
