Marella Cruises relaunched its winter 2024 programme after cancelling the ship’s Asia programme last month due to insecurity in the Red Sea.

Marella Discovery 2 will now homeport in Malaga, Spain from November 7 for a series of winter sailings, and from Tenerife and Gran Canaria, Spain from December 2024 to March 2025. The vessel will homeport in Limassol, Cyprus for summer 2025.

‘...We do appreciate how disappointing it was to those customers who were impacted by the cancellation of our Asia programme on Marella Discovery 2, but we are confident with the breadth of programmes we have, to offer something different to our customers,’ said Chris Hackney, MD of cruise for TUI UK & Ireland.

The new itineraries are on sale from today and passengers can choose from a variety of UK airports to Malaga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Cyprus.

Malaga

Two roundtrip itineraries – ‘Spanish Flavours’ and ‘Sights and Delights’ – will operate from Malaga. The first departs on November 7 calling Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Valencia, Cartegena, Spain and Gibraltar. The second, operating from November 14, includes calls in Lisbon, Portugal, Cadiz, Spain, Casablanca, Morocco, and Cartagena, Motril and Malaga, Spain.

Tenerife

Two new itineraries will be available round-trip from Tenerife: ‘Winter Escape’ begins on November 28 calling at Malaga, Gibraltar, Cadiz and Gran Canaria; ‘Sail into Spring’ leaves on March 24, 2025 calling at Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Cartagena, Malta and Limassol, Cyprus.

‘We are delighted to offer these itineraries out of two of our well-established homeports for this winter,’ said Hackney. ‘We know guests love the beautiful Canaries and Madeira and as Marella Cruises is part of TUI, we are able to offer incredible experiences ashore with our destination teams as well as a great onboard experience too. All of these itineraries offer cruise and stay options too, with great flying options across various UK airports.’
