Emerald Cruises introduced a 10-day 'Meandering Majestic Mekong' itinerary in 2024 that offers a more relaxed pace and gives extra time in Cambodia.

For this program, Emerald Harmony sails between Ho Chi Minch City and Phnom Penh exclusively in August, September and October, during the region's less crowded 'green season.'

Additional port

The extra time in Cambodia comes from continuing northeast past the capital city. An additional port call at Angkor Ban allows visitors to explore a remote village of hundred-year-old wooden houses that survived the Khmer Rouge and receive a blessing from the local monastery.

This itinerary includes more daytime sailing, too.

Classic eight-day itinerary

Travelers looking to cruise the Mekong between mid-October 2024 and mid-May 2025 can opt for the classic eight-day 'Majestic Mekong,' also sailing between Ho Chi Minh City and Phnom Penh.

Cruise and land tours combine the eight- or 10-day sailing with an in-depth land program. The 13- or 15-day 'Wonders of Vietnam, Cambodia & the Mekong' adds three days in Siem Reap, Cambodia, to visit the ancient temples of Angkor Tom and watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat.

A Vespa tour of the city or a boat tour of nearby Tonle Sap lake, an Aspara dance show with traditional Cambodian dinner and an evening street food tour are other tour features.

Longer cruise-tours

Two longer itineraries give more time touring before and after the cruise: the 17- or 19-day 'Treasures & Temples of Vietnam & Cambodia' adds tours in Vietnam’s capital of Hanoi and a two-night cruise on a traditional-style junk in Halong Bay as well as the Siem Reap program.

The 21- or 23-day 'Grand Tour of Vietnam & Cambodia' itinerary adds tours in Hue, the former imperial capital of Vietnam, and Hoi An, known for its well-preserved ancient town and eclectic architecture, as well as the tour program in Hanoi, Halong Bay and Siem Reap.
