Regal Princess begins a cruise season from Galveston

The 142,229gt Regal Princess arrived at the Port of Galveston Sunday as the largest Princess Cruises ship ever based in Texas.

It will sail round-trips to the Western Caribbean through March 24 with an anticipated 75,000 passengers over the season.

Princess Cruises Chief Commercial Officer Terry Thornton, Regal Princess Capt. Aldo Traverso and Princess Celebrations Ambassador Jill Whelan hosted a maritime plaque exchange with Galveston Wharves Board Vice Chairman Jeff Patterson. A festive performance by Galveston’s Ball High School Drill Team Tornettes and school mascot Tuffy kicked off the event.

First Galveston cruises 20 years ago

Regal Princess begins a series of 21 voyages ranging from seven to 12 days to such destinations as Cozumel, Costa Maya and Roatán. Holiday sailings over Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are available.

A 'Love and Romance Celebration'-themed cruise Dec. 3 with Love Ambassador and bridal fashion icon Randy Fenoli will offer special events, tips on how to choose the right wedding dress and the debut of the 'Randy' cocktail.

2024/25 return

Regal Princess will return to Galveston for the 2024/25 cruise season.
