Explora I's handover delayed
Explora Journeys' first ship, Explora I was due to be handed over Thursday by Fincantieri but the delivery ceremony has been cancelled as the builder and owner have agreed to make further enhancements in the final stages.

‘Unfortunately, the time required for the work will extend the vessel’s stay at the shipyard by a few weeks,' MSC Cruises said in a statement Tuesday.

A source at the Cruise Division of MSC Group commented, ‘The final fittings are taking longer than we would have wished for.’

July 8 naming cancelled

The naming ceremony was scheduled to take place in Civitavecchia near Rome on July 8.

No firm dated has been confirmed for the revised event.

MSC apologised for inconvenience caused to the guests who were due to attend the event.

Maiden voyage uncertainty

Explora I's maiden voyage is slated for July 17 from Southampton, a 15-night sailing to the Norwegian fjords, the Arctic Circle and Copenhagen, however, the source added,  'As we don’t yet know exactly when the ship will be delivered to us, there is no precise way to know right now how the inaugural journey may or may not be affected.'
