Mein Schiff Relax, due for delivery in 2025, is floated out of dry dock in Monfalcone
Mein Schiff Relax, TUI Cruises’ first InTUItion class vessel, has been floated out of dry dock at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard.

It is one of two dual-fuel powered InTUItion ships that run on LNG and MGO.

Mein Schiff Relax is due for delivery in 2025, with its sister launching in 2026.

Elena Sperti, an employee of the shipyard, acted as the godmother at the float-out.

Order based on prototype project

At approximately 160,000gt each, the vessels will constitute the backbone of TUI Cruises’ future fleet. The order is based on a prototype project developed by Fincantieri with modern and sustainable characteristics and energy efficiency at its centre.

Features

They will be equipped with catalytic converters (compliant with Euro 6 standard) and a generative turbine that uses the residual heat of the diesel generators. The vessels can also connect to shore power. According to Fincantieri, this guarantees almost emission-free operation while in port, estimated to be about 40% of operating time.

In addition, the ships will be equipped with an innovative, efficient waste treatment system capable of transforming organic substances into charcoal through a thermal process.
