Kicking off its yearlong 50th birthday festivities, Carnival Cruise Line's 'Sailabrations' begin later this week and run through March 10.

These commemorative birthday sailings will feature at-sea ship meetups, special entertainment and programming.

'From the minute our guests walk into our terminals, they’ll know they are at the biggest and best birthday party ever,' Carnival President Christine Duffy said.

The terminals will have festive music, signage and décor. Each ship will host a 50th Birthday Bash Sailaway Party where passengers are invited to wear their favorite Carnival gear, vintage or modern, as Playlist Productions cast members join the ships' cruise director, Fun Squad and DJs to rock to festive tunes.

Other entertainment to debut on the Sailabrations will include Carnival-themed puzzles, 1972 fun-fact trivia, a Build-A-Bear Birthday Party with the debut of a special-edition cuddly bear and a Rollin’ In Riches casino event. The sailings will also have new collections of specially-designed and collectable retail offerings.

Ship meet-ups

The 17 themed Sailabrations will entail meet-ups of Carnival ships. These include Carnival Radiance and Carnival Miracle March 5 outside Ensenada; Carnival Breeze, Carnival Ecstasy, Carnival Glory, Mardi Gras, Carnival Pride, Carnival Sunrise and Carnival Vista March 7 in the western Caribbean, between Cozumel and Costa Maya; Carnival Conquest, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Legend, Carnival Liberty and Carnival Sunshine March 9 in the Bahamas, between Eleuthera and Nassau; and Carnival Miracle and Carnival Panorama March 11 outside Ensenada.

Ship-Tok

Taught and led by the ships’ cruise director and Fun Squad, a choregraphed dance inspired by Carnival’s 50th birthday will be posted on TikTok. Passengers are encouraged to wear red, white and blue to show their Carnival spirit.

Commemorative menu

A special commemorative menu for one night features some of the most popular Carnival dishes from the past 50 years. Also, fan favorites from Guy’s Burgers to 24-hour pizza, will be presented with a 50th birthday feature and new beverages will debut on these sailings, including a Birthday Bellini at Seaday Brunch, a Carnival Birthday Beer from Carnival’s own brewmasters that will be canned and on tap, and Carnival’s 50th Birthday Tini.

Carnival’s original main dining room show will be set to Bob Marley’s 'Could You Be Loved' as well as a Baked Alaska Farewell Parade (on all ships but Carnival Ecstasy) on the final evening reminiscent of the line’s earlier days.

Carnival Miracle will be the first Sailabration cruise to set sail when it leaves Long Beach, California Feb. 20 on a 'Carnival Journeys' cruise to Hawaii. Most other Sailabrations will depart the week of March 5.

Details on additional Sailabrations voyages are here.
