Neighborhood bar vibe for new Discovery Princess show

CRUISE_Spotlight_Bar.jpg
An original production show for the new Discovery Princess aims to capture the friendly atmosphere of a neighborhood bar.

In 'Spotlight Bar,' locals share tales of their lives through song.

The show includes a modern playlist with cast performances of songs such as 'Brave' (Sara Bareilles), 'Don’t You Worry About a Thing' (Stevie Wonder), 'Havana' (Camila Cabela), 'Old Town Road' (Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus), 'Drink You Away' (Justin Timberlake) and 'Freedom' (George Michael).

'Spotlight Bar' will debut in the Princess Theater on Discovery Princess departing Los Angeles April 17 for the Mexican Riviera. The show will be performed on every Discovery Princess voyage.

Stellar creative team

The creative team behind the show includes director and choreographer Karen Bruce, scenic designer Morgan Large, musical director Chris Egan, lighting designer James Whiteside and costume designer Jackson Lowell. All have major international production credits that range from the BBC and London's West End to noted dance companies. Some are Olivier Award winners or nominees.

Discovery Princess will debut at the Port of Los Angeles on March 27, sailing a series of Mexican Riviera and California coast voyages through April 24, before heading north for weekly Alaska cruises from Seattle.
