CRUISE_Ocean_Explorer_4_0.jpg
Ocean Explorer is set to begin service for Quark Expeditions in the 2024/25 Antarctica season, followed by summer 2025 in the Arctic and a return to the White Continent in 2025/26
Quark Expeditions will operate Ocean Explorer, starting with the 2024/25 Antarctica season and replacing Ocean Adventurer, while Ocean Odyssey will be deployed outside the cruise market.

All are SunStone Maritime Group ships. The company declined to give further information about Odyssey's deployment at this time.

Ocean Explorer and Ocean Odyssey previously were chartered to now defunct Vantage Deluxe World Travel. More recently, Ocean Explorer had filled in for Aurora Expeditions' Greg Mortimer in Greenland last summer.

Ocean Adventurer available in October

Quark's charter of the 128-passenger Ocean Adventurer ends in October, and SunStone said the ship will become available for sale or charter.

Antarctica and the Arctic

Ocean Explorer is to begin Quark service in early November on a variety of Antarctica expeditions from Ushuaia and 'Antarctic Express' fly over the Drake Passage programs from Punta Arenas.

Svalbard/High Arctic Norway expeditions are scheduled beginning in May 2025, with flights to/from Longyearbyen via Helsinki. Following a Spitsbergen/Iceland/Greenland cruise in August 2025, Ocean Explorer will sail several Greenland expeditions before returning to Antarctica for the 2025/26 season.

The 2021-built Ocean Explorer is the second in SunStone's Infinity class, featuring Ulstein Design's X-BOW and rated Polar Class 6. It measures 104 meters/341 feet. Quark lists its capacity as 138 passengers.

Quark also fields its owned ship, the 199-passenger Ultramarine, and operates the chartered 172-passenger World Explorer.
