Odalisque III will visit Bathurst Harbour on her maiden voyage
On Board Tasmanian Expedition Cruises’ 12-passenger catamaran Odalisque III will sail from Hobart next Monday on an inaugural five-day ‘Port Davey Expeditions’ round cruise.

Odalisque III will operate this itinerary into the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, visiting Port Davey, Bathurst Harbour and Melaleuca, until the end of June.

She will then sail a five-day round ‘East Coast Expedition’ cruise from Hobart to the Freycinet Peninsula until November.

Pieter van der Woude is the founder of the family-owned On Board Tasmanian Expedition Cruises, which has been running charters and cruises since 1998, and is the skipper of Odalisque III.

His daughter Alice is director of marketing and experience.

As reported here, the new ship replaces Odalisque II which will now be used for floating receptions in Hobart.

All Tasmanian showcase

As also reported here, the boutique 24mtr three-deck Odalisque III was locally built by Richardson Devine Marine and the interiors are the work of Tasmanian designer Rebecca Kirkland.

The ship has an all-Tasmanian crew and the chef will feature locally produced dishes, with a comprehensive Tasmanian wine list.

‘We want not only to showcase our incredible environment to guests, but inspire and excite them to conserve the wild places that we love,’ van der Woude said.

Launched by Dick Smith

Launching Odalisque III in Hobart earlier this week, Australian aviator, adventurer and dedicated conservationist Dick Smith said he had visited the Port Davey region many years ago.

‘Port Davey in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area is one of the most precious places in the world,’ Smith said.

‘Businesses like On Board who immerse guests in this incredible wilderness, providing luxury but with a care and passion for the place, are pioneering the future of Tasmania’s tourism.’
