Miguel Torga - named after the famous Portuguese novelist and poet
Isabel Ferreira de Castro, director of tourism for Porto and northern Portugal, and Domingo Carvas, mayor of the city of Sabrosa, served as godparents for CroisiEurope's new Douro riverboat, Miguel Torga.

The vessel is named for the famous novelist and poet born in Sabrosa and considered one of the most important figures in 20th-century Portuguese literature.

Festivities took place in Porto in the presence of the Schmitter family, who founded and operate CroisiEurope.

Built in 2016 at the Sambre et Meuse (Namur) shipyard, Miguel Torga is the company's fifth vessel for its Douro fleet. Outfitted and finished in Strasbourg, it has the most advanced technologies and is decorated in a contemporary style with bright, open spaces.

The triple deck Miguel Torga stretches 80 meters with a beam of 11.4 meters and has capacity for 132 passengers in 66 double cabins, including four suites. One cabin is adapted for travelers with reduced mobility. The crew numbers 32.

Public rooms include a panoramic lounge and restaurant, boutique, a large deck with sun loungers and a 24-meter pool.

Miguel Torga's six- to eight-day itineraries explore the Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its traditional wine-growing methods, and visit destinations like Porto, Regua, Pinhao, Vega Terron, Barca d'Alva, Salamanca or Ferradosa.

A new, customizable 'active' package for more adventurous passengers includes the opportunity to discover Porto by tram, walks along the Atlantic Coast and Salamanca by bicycle.

Miguel Torga's all-inclusive cruises include drinks with meals and in the bar.
