Hunter was md Australia of Classic International Cruises in 2004 when Funchal operated that company’s first season ex-Fremantle.
He built up the WA market and was on the brink of operating CIC’s ninth 2012/13 consecutive season from Fremantle when the company collapsed following the arrest of its ships, Athena and Princess Danae, in Marseille in 2012.
CMV tried to rescue the CIC operation, but failed to find a replacement ship in time.
A statement from CMV said Hunter, with his wife, Susanne, is pursuing a new career opportunity overseas.
Brazier has been head of special projects with cruise specialist Phil Hoffmann Travel in South Australia for nine years. He previously owned and managed Driveline Europe in the UK.
‘Dean Brazier has a proven track record and brings a wealth of travel industry and management experience to the business,’ CMV Group commercial director, Chris Coates, said.
‘Our aim is to grow the business and foster closer ties with the Australian travel trade who have pro-actively supported us since the launch of Astor’s 13,000 capacity programme in 2013.’
Astor arrives in Fremantle on December 8 for a fifth 2017/18 season after a 54-night voyage from Tilbury via the West Indies, Panama Canal and the South Pacific.
