Over an at least five-year period, the ship will operate for Plantours 210 days of the year, the Bremen-based operator confirmed. Detailed itineraries for the Rousse Prestige are due for release at the ITB Travel Trade fair in March.
Oliver Steuber, md of Plantours, confirmed the operator has been looking for another rivership for some time.
During 2018 and 2019, Rousse Prestige – which has a long history with Phoenix Reisen, another German operator – will undergo extensive refurbishment which Plantours as prospective charterer has been able to influence.
This year, all cabins will be upgraded; subsequently, 48 out of 78 cabins will have French balconies. Next year and prior to entering operation for Plantours, the public areas are due for refurbishment.
Rousse Prestige, which is 110mtr long and 11.40mtr wide, will carry up to 157 guests in operation for Plantours. A draft of 1.60mtr makes her suitable for itineraries including also shallow rivers and canals in Belgium and Holland. Additionally, Plantours will operate on the Danube, Rhine and Main.
According to present planning, Rousse Prestige will sail on the Danube during the beginning and end of each season, spending the summer on western European rivers. Her maiden voyage for Plantours will depart from Passau in March 2019.
Rousse Prestige is owned and managed by Dunav Tours, she flies the Bulgarian flag.
