AIDAvita made the last call at Copenhagen's Langeline pier. Several Christmas and New Year's cruises are still to come
The Danish capital set a new cruise record by hosting 850,000 passengers in the 2017 season. Copenhagen's growth was propelled by 15 larger ships, according to Arnt Møller Pedersen, COO cruise & ferries, Copenhagen Malmö Port.

Copenhagen handled 325 cruise calls, 153 of them turn arounds. Seventy-two ships from 36 lines visited.

The season's last call was made by AIDAvita at Langeline. This winter six Christmas and New Year's cruises are also scheduled.

Next year Copenhagen calls are projected to increase to 337, while passenger numbers should climb to 875,000. At the same time, CMP will welcome nine cruise calls at Malmö, Sweden, carrying a total of 10,000 passengers.

CMP is investing to continue growth. A new terminal is being built in Copenhagen, and starting in April, Sweden's Visby will form part of CMP’s cruise operations.

Visby is expected to serve 90,000 cruisers in 2018, twice the number of this year.
