Charlottetown chalked up four triple ship days and multiple double ship days in the busy autumn period.
Les Parsons, ceo of Port Charlottetown, said PEI felt the ripple effect of the cruise business as many buses carried passengers to various locations.
According to statistics provided by tour operators, approximately 50% of passengers took pre-booked shore excursions, which travel across the island. Plus, many passengers take independent tours.
Cruise lines also purchased local products to use on board.
This has been a great opportunity to expose a new audience to PEI's world-class products such as seafood, dairy items and potatoes, noted Corryn Clemence, business development manager for the port.
