'Some companies mark an anniversary with a plaque, but not so when you’re in such a fun and invigorating business,' said Bill Panoff, founder, president and ceo.
The world-record attempt, which will be implemented and documented at a later date aboard a cruise ship docked in South Florida—details to follow, pending application approval—will include PPI Group executives, employees and their families, passengers and crew.
PPI Group was established in December 1987, after Panoff left his life at sea as a cruise director to embark on a land-based business opportunity that focused on shopping recommendations for passengers.
Over three decades the company has grown its publishing division, which today produces dozens of in-room books and magazines for cruise lines, hotels and tourism organizations. PPI Group also has developed and evolved its on-board and shoreside shopping programs to meet the changing needs of travelers and added a video department and in-house facility to produce programming that showcases on-board revenue centers, port shopping and destination highlights through commercials, sales promotions and product marketing.
In 1996, Panoff launched Porthole Cruise Magazine, a consumer travel magazine that’s available on newsstands and in both print and digital subscriptions. The glossy bimonthly magazine, which marked 20 years in 2016 with a new design and re-launch, offers ship reviews, destination features, photo essays and other content.
Today, PPI Group has 48 land-based employees and plans to expand with a new affiliate company, Windmingo, a full-service digital agency focused on aligning content with targeting to influence the customer journey.
