Carnival Cruise Line canceled cruises through February from Miami, Port Canaveral and Galveston, and moved Mardi Gras's inaugural sailing to April 24.

Mardi Gras will operate from Port Canaveral as North America's first LNG-powered cruise ship.

Delivery later this month

Carnival expects to take delivery from Meyer Turku later this month, and eventually the ship will sail to the US to meet the requirements of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to carry passengers.

The ship's last announced entry-to-service date had been Feb. 6.

'We apologize to our guests but we must continue to take a thoughtful, deliberate and measured approach as we map out our return to operations in 2021,' Carnival President Christine Duffy said.
