The recently inaugurated Norwegian Viva will be sailing from San Juan on week-long, port-intensive cruises through March. The itinerary includes Tortola, Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Maarten and St. Thomas, with no sea days.
Norwegian Cruise Line's previous San Juan-based ship was the larger Norwegian Epic.
In April, Norwegian Viva is scheduled to return to Europe for a second season sailing a variety of Mediterranean and Greek Isles itineraries.
Galveston
Meanwhile, Norwegian Prima is undertaking its first season from Galveston, with seven-day cruises to Harvest Caye (Belize), Costa Maya, Cozumel and Roatán.
This December to March program will the first time NCL has operated regularly from the Texas port. Norwegian Prima had debuted there on a special cruise in October 2022 when Grammy Award-winning singer Kelly Clarkson performed for teachers in the 'Norwegian's Giving Joy' program.
Cruise Terminal 16
NCL President David Herrera recently told Seatrade Cruise News that talks continue with Galveston about using its planned fourth cruise facility, Terminal 16. MSC Cruises is also in discussion about Terminal 16, and Princess Cruises is potentially interested, too.
As earlier reported here, Norwegian Viva is scheduled to spend the 2025/26 winter season in Galveston.
