Disney pro is Royal Caribbean Group's new chief communications officer

Heather Hust Rivera joined Royal Caribbean Group as SVP/chief communications officer, following 17 years with Disney.

She will oversee global corporate communications, incident and crisis management, and executive and internal communications, reporting to Dana Ritzcovan, EVP/chief people and outreach, Royal Caribbean Group.

'One of my greatest passions in life is travel, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help tell the stories of Royal Caribbean Group’s iconic brands,' Hust Rivera wrote on LinkedIn. She declined further comment.

Rosanna Fiske previously led global communications at Royal Caribbean Group as VP, from 2021 through 2022.

Disney roles

Hust Rivera most recently served as SVP communications for Disney's media and entertainment distribution, where she led the team responsible for developing and implementing strategic communications programs for Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+ and Star+; linear television channels, including ABC, Disney Channel, ESPN, Freeform, FX and National Geographic; ABC-owned stations; advertising; Disney Music Group; content licensing and distribution; and theatrical film distribution.

DEI task force

Before that, as VP communications and public affairs for parks, experiences and products, Hust Rivera worked with licensing, retail, games and publishing. She also led a global diversity, equity and inclusion task force to reimagine Disney’s products and partnerships to expand their reach, relevance and impact with communities around the world.

Earlier, Hust Rivera directed communications and public relations for Disney publishing worldwide and led the social media, video and web teams for corporate functions. She began her Disney career in 2005 as a publicity and media manager at Disneyland and was involved in co-launching the Disney Parks blog.

Earlier, Hust Rivera worked at the United States Mission to the United Nations supporting US ambassadors’ implementation of foreign policy priorities and humanitarian objectives.
