Capt. Hernan Zini, a highly respected Royal Caribbean Group veteran who brought out Allure of the Seas then held key roles shoreside, is leaving.

He's accepted a new position with Amazon in Seattle.

As VP worldwide port operations, Zini has been at the epicenter of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic port shutdowns globally, along with the massive ports-related work to get the fleet restarted globally.

Jaime Castillo

Jaime Castillo, who becomes AVP worldwide port operations after serving as director of worldwide port operations for nearly four years, is leading this area for now. A successor to Zini will be appointed.

'The captain you wanted shoreside as well'

'It was a heavy job [Zini] had, with many long nights,' a company spokesperson said. 'He's extremely well-respected. He's the captain you wanted shoreside, as well.'

Previously Zini was VP talent management for Royal Caribbean Group.

Earlier the company sent him to Shanghai for two years where Zini was chief operating officer for SkySea Cruises, its joint venture with China's Ctrip.
