With 7,299,294 passenger moves, PortMiami posted a new record year for cruise activity in fiscal 2023.

This was the period from Oct. 1, 2022 to Sept. 30, 2023.

PortMiami reported a 6.97% increase in cruise passenger totals compared to its previous record of 6,823,816 in fiscal 2019.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava congratulated the port team on its busiest cruise year ever.

Fiscal 2024

The 2024 fiscal year has new ships including Oceania Cruises' Vista, Carnival Venezia, Scenic Eclipse II, Crystal Serenity, Explora Journeys' Explora I, Norwegian Viva and Regent Seven Seas Cruises' Seven Seas Grandeur, which was officially named at PortMiami festivities Sunday.

In late January, the new world's largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, will begin sailing from the port.

Since the pandemic, the port opened three new cruise terminals: Norwegian Cruise Line’s Terminal B, called the Pearl of Miami; Carnival Corp.'s Cruise Terminal F and Virgin Voyages’ Cruise Terminal V, the Palm Grove.

New terminals and shore power

Currently under construction are MSC Cruises’ Terminals AA/AAA, set to open in 2024. Recently, the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners approved Royal Caribbean Group’s updated Cruise Terminal G, which is expected to open in late 2027.

Shore power is expected to become available in first quarter 2024 at five cruise terminals with the ability to plug in three ships simultaneously.
