Princess Cruises canceled 11 Diamond Princess sailings from San Diego citing 'labor challenges.'

The impacted departures are for cruises embarking Sept. 2 through Nov. 13 and include five-night 'West Coast Getaways,' seven-night 'Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortez' and 'Classic California Coast' itineraries and a 14-day Hawaiian Islands voyage.

Rising occupancies

The line explained: 'Over the past year we have operated hundreds of cruises thanks to the tens of thousands of our Princess team members that have rejoined our fleet to deliver exceptional Princess vacations. However, like others in the global travel industry we have experienced some labor challenges.

'With rising occupancy levels on the ships that have already returned to service and our commitment to guarantee the Princess experience is exceptional, Princess has made the difficult decision to cancel a limited number of voyages ... This will provide us with the additional time needed to overcome our labor challenges.'

Replacement cruise, FCC or refund

The line is offering passengers a choice of replacement cruises on Discovery Princess or Crown Princess round-trip Los Angeles, with $100 per person onboard credit and fare protection in the event the new cruise fare is higher, or a future cruise credit or a full refund.

The FCC option also comes with a $100 per person onboard credit and is valid for voyages sailed by the end of 2023.

Diamond Princess was announced sail from San Diego through February 2023 so several months of cruises are still scheduled.
