New Zealand family-owned Heritage Expeditions is the latest company to put 2023 Kimberley cruises in the marketplace.

The 140-passenger Heritage Adventurer, formerly Hanseatic, makes an 11-day Darwin to Broome voyage on July 11 and returns from Broome to Darwin July 21.

On August 10, the expedition ship makes another 11-day voyage from Broome to Darwin.

There is a 20% saving on all cabins booked by August 31.

Pre-pandemic numbers

Luke Westlake, CEO of the Kimberley Ports Authority, said P&O Cruises Australia, Ponant, Seabourn, Silversea, Oceania Cruises, Coral Expeditions and APT currently have bookings for the 2023 season which runs from late March until October.

‘We are expecting a return to a similar number of cruise ship visits experienced before COVID-19,’ Westlake said.

The Kimberley, in the northernmost part of Western Australia, is renowned for its remoteness and rugged beauty.

It is bordered on the west by the Indian Ocean, on the north by the Timor Sea, on the south by the Great Sandy and Tanami deserts in the region of the Pilbara and on the east by the Northern Territory.
