Pacific Explorer will be fitted with Starlink technology next month, bringing her in line with the company’s other two ships
P&O Cruises Australia’s 2,600-passenger Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter are connected to SpaceX’s Starlink, with the satellite system to be installed in its third ship, Pacific Explorer, in November.

SVP Guest Experience Peter Little said the improved connectivity is in time for the (Southern Hemisphere) summer holidays.

‘Whether it’s sharing holiday moments with friends and family back home, uploading a picture of a sunset or catching the news, Starlink will make it even easier for our passengers to stay connected,’ Little said.

Boost for crew

He also said Starlink’s network of low earth orbit satellites will help the crew on the company’s three ships to stay in touch with their families and friends and will enhance operational functions like real-time communications between ship and shore teams.

Plans for purchase

Passengers may purchase an internet plan that offers the level of connection they want.

P&O UK lead

P&O Cruises Australia is following the lead of P&O Cruises UK which has already installed Starlink technology in Britannia and Azura, with plans to make it available on Arvia, Iona, Ventura, Arcadia and Aurora by the end of the year.
