The goal is pursuing further business opportunities and optimizing the synergies between the newbuilding and after-sales segment in the cruise sector.
The services business will be led by Daniele Fanara, assisted by Andrew Toso, deputy. They will report directly to Luigi Matarazzo, general manager of the merchant ships division and of Fincantieri Services USA, the group’s subsidiary headquartered in Miami, representing all service and after-sales activities for cruise ships in the US.
Within the merchant ships division, Fanara maintains his responsibility for the newbuilding department, including mega-yachts, special vessels and newbuilding in China.
Giorgio Rizzo
Giorgio Rizzo, previous director of the services division, became senior advisor to Fabio Gallia, who joined Fincantieri as general manager last year, to support the development of specific business projects at the national and international levels.
Benefits for other Fincantieri companies
Bringing services into the merchant ships fold will also benefit other Fincantieri companies, particularly the furniture and electrical and mechanical systems hubs, with enhanced products and services for a wider range of operators.
The reorganization will specifically impact the refurbishment of cabins, public spaces and catering areas, the installation and replacement of stabilizers and thrusters, the introduction of new propulsion and energy systems for savings and emissions reduction and the modernization of air conditioning systems including the addition of air sanitization systems.
The process will also allow the development of further synergies with the building of mega-yachts to increase market share in the refitting of these vessels.
'Considering that one in three ships of the current global cruise fleet has been built by us, this operation will allow us to fully exploit the wealth of experience and knowledge of our different ship platforms,' Fincantieri CEO Giuseppe Bono said. 'Thus, we will be able to offer our clients increasingly specialized and advanced works that can renew and extend the units' life.'
