Sylvia Earle looks forward to a 'meaningful relationship between Mission Blue, Explora Journeys and the MSC Foundation'
World-renowned oceanographer Sylvia Earle will serve as the godmother for Explora Journeys' Explora I during its July 8 naming festivities at Civitavecchia.

Earle is a pioneer of deep-sea exploration and has dedicated her life to ocean conservation. She has been a vocal advocate for protecting the world's oceans and marine life, and her expertise and leadership have been recognized globally.

Earle is a practiced godmother; in February she did the honors for her namesake ship in Antarctica; it operates for Aurora Expeditions.

'An inspiration to us all'

Explora Journeys CEO Michael Ungerer called Earle's lifelong commitment to ocean conservation and education 'an inspiration to us all.'

Earle, who also founded and chairs Mission Blue, which inspires action to explore and protect the ocean, said she looks forward to a 'meaningful relationship between Mission Blue, Explora Journeys and the MSC Foundation toward protecting and restoring the ocean globally.'
