This springs from Le Havre Seine Métropole urban community and Haropa Port's 2018 commitment to a partnership approach to develop cruising and renovate the Pointe de Floride site. Their aim is to increase economic impact and improve services, making Le Havre a benchmark for cruising.
New terminals
Two new terminals will be built, starting with the south quay and entailing the complete renovation of two berths. The north terminal, opposite the city center and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, will benefit from new construction.
Works already under way include strengthening and stabilizing the quays. New covered gangways equipped with a middle podium to reduce the inclination caused by the tides are being built.
Shore power
Works to install shore power will begin next winter.
The project also includes parking spaces and a landscaped promenade.
The works will be carried out from 2023 to 2025 with an effort to minimize any disturbance to cruise activity, according to Le Havre Cruise Club.
600,000 passengers a year by 2030
Le Havre currently welcomes 350,000 to 400,000 cruisers a year. The Cruise Vision project aims to reach 600,000 passengers by 2030.
Le Havre Cruise Club will be at Seatrade Cruise Global as part of the French pavilion (#2223).
