An exclusive dinner and cruise around Sydney Harbour for industry partners and media aboard Norwegian Spirit is planned for her arrival on December 21.

The evening, to celebrate Norwegian Cruise Line’s return to Australasia after three years and the $100m bow-to-stern revitalisation of Norwegian Spirit, will be co-hosted by President and CEO Harry Sommer and VP and MD APAC Ben Angell.

Under Sydney Harbour Bridge

Guests will board the ship at the White Bay Cruise Terminal and sail under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, disembarking at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay.

Meantime, they will have cocktails, dinner and entertainment onboard.

Trans-Tasman cruise

Norwegian Spirit, the former Star Cruises’ SuperStar Leo that transferred to the NCL fleet in 2004, will sail the following day on her first trans-Tasman cruise of the 2022/23 season.

She departs Sydney on March 28, 2023, for Papeete.

Important markets

‘Australia and New Zealand are important markets for Norwegian Cruise Line, both as source markets and destinations,’ Sommer told Seatrade Cruise News.

He said voyages in Europe, Hawaii and Alaska are popular with Australians and New Zealanders and the company is seeing great demand for Norwegian Spirit’s sailings from Sydney and Auckland.

‘Whether repeat guests, new-to-brand or first-time cruisers, we know Australians and New Zealanders love our laid-back style of cruising and we are delighted to finally have one of our ships — the completely reimagined Norwegian Spirit — in local waters for the first time in three years, reaffirming our long-term commitment to the region,’ he said.
