Princess Cruises canceled California coast and Mexico sailings on Ruby Princess and Caribbean sailings on Caribbean Princess through Aug. 21.

The remaining 2021 Mediterranean season for Enchanted Princess was canceled, too.

Holding out hope for Alaska

The line said it's still talking with US and Canadian government officials to try to preserve a portion of the Alaska cruise season.

'We continue to have constructive discussions with the CDC but still have many questions that remain unanswered. We are working diligently to resume sailing in the US and meet the CDC guidelines,' Princess President Jan Swartz said, echoing Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy's exact remarks yesterday.

Options for travelers

Passengers booked on a canceled cruise may move to an equivalent sailing in 2021 or 2022 at the 2021 rate. Or, they may choose a 100% future cruise credit plus an additional nonrefundable bonus FCC equal to 10% of the cruise fare paid (minimum $25), or a full refund.

Requests must be received through this online form by June 15 or travelers will automatically receive the FCC option. FCCs can be used on any cruises sailing by Dec. 31, 2022.

Princess will protect travel advisor commission on bookings that were paid in full.
