Viking builds, owns and operates its own Nile River vessels
Viking open sales earlier than planned for its newest Nile River ship, Viking Sobek, set to debut in 2025.

This will be the company's sixth vessel sailing the 12-day 'Pharoahs & Pyramids' itinerary.

With Viking’s 2024 Egypt season nearly sold out and 2025 selling well, strong demand led to the early opening of Viking Sobek's inaugural season and 2026 departure dates across the entire Nile fleet.

Builds, owns and operates

'We are very pleased with the continued interest in Egypt and are proud to be the only western company to build, own and operate ships on the Nile,' Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen said.

Hosting 82 passengers in 41 staterooms, Viking Sobek is inspired by Viking’s other river and ocean ships with their elegant Scandinavian interiors. Sobek is the identical sister of 2022's Viking Osiris, 2023's recently inaugurated Viking Aton and Viking Hathor, set to debut in 2024.

Other vessels in Viking’s Egypt fleet include Viking Ra and Antares.
