Wave deals from Princess Cruises, Crystal, Virgin, HAL, Azamara, Windstar, HX

Wave season deals are rolling out with some of the first coming from Princess Cruises, Crystal, Virgin Voyages, Holland America Line, Azamara, Windstar Cruises and HX.

These range from discounts and free upgrades to kids sail free, on-board credit, bar tab, included valet service and a free pre- or post-cruise hotel night.

Crystal's 'Suite Dreams Upgrade,' valet service and marketing support

At Crystal, travelers booking a 2024 cruise before Jan. 31 will receive a complimentary suite upgrade and wardrobe valet service with dry-cleaning and garment care included free of charge.

Travelers can get up to a three-category upgrade from an aquamarine veranda suite to sapphire veranda suite or from a double guest room with veranda to an aquamarine veranda suite on select 2024 departures.

This and the garment care and dry-cleaning services are available for new reservations made after Dec. 14.

New creative supports Crystal's 'Exceptona at Sea' campaign

Additionally, Crystal has new creative material for its seve-figure 'Exceptional at Sea' campaign that shows guests enjoying moments of tranquility, connection and celebration aboard the reimagined Crystal ships.

'We went back to the DNA of what made Crystal so special to everyone who has sailed with us,' said Jacqueline Barney, SVP global marketing. '... We wanted to use a group of creatives drawn from fashion, film and architecture to capture these two iconic ships in all their glory and create an emotional bridge linking the modern with the classic.'

This print, out-of-home and digital campaign launched in the US, UK and Australia with placements in some of the top lifestyle and travel publications including The New York Times, Condé Nast Traveler, The Telegraph, Travel+Leisure and other publications. Additionally, Crystal will be working with all its major consortia partners on specialized initiatives. 

Princess Cruises' up to 40% off, free upgrades

Princess Cruises' wave offer includes savings of up to 40% off fares for voyages all over the globe and free stateroom room upgrades. Plus, third and fourth guests in a room sail for free.

The complimentary room upgrade offers between like-to-like stateroom types. For example, if booking the fare for the lowest priced mini-suite, the offer upgrades the location of the stateroom for free, based on availability.

'Right now is the best time for guests to book the widest selection of Princess cruises to their choice of exciting worldwide destinations,' Chief Commercial Officer Terry Thornton said.

Examples of savings include a seven-day 'Voyage of the Glaciers' on Sapphire Princess departing May 18, 2024, priced starting at $399. A seven-day Norwegian Fjords cruise on Sky Princess, July 13, 2024, starts at $699. And a 16-day Hawaiian Islands voyage on Ruby Princess, Jan. 3, 2025, is priced from $899.

The offer runs through Feb. 29 and is available to residents of the US, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Bermuda.

Virgin Voyages' 70% off the second traveler plus bar tab

Between now and Jan. 31, travelers can buy a Virgin voyage for one person and get 70% off the second passenger in the stateroom, plus up to $600 in bar tab, depending on the voyage length.

The bar tab tiers are $100 for cruises up to four nights, $200 for five to six nights, $300 for seven to 13 nights and $600 for 14 nights and more nights. This can be used for specialty coffees, top-shelf cocktails or Virgin's signature Shake for Champagne feature with Moët delivery on demand.

'Wave season is here and the best time for travelers to book a voyage with us, whether wanting a Caribbean winter escape, a Mediterranean summer adventure or going further aboard our epic voyages to Bali, Morocco or Iceland,' Virgin Voyages CEO Nirmal Saverimutu said.

HAL's 'Time of Your Life' offer

From Dec. 14 through Feb. 29, travelers who book select summer 2024 through spring 2025 Holland America Line cruises with the 'Have It All' premium cpackage receive a free stateroom upgrade, fare discounts, free fares for kids and reduced deposits with the 'Time of Your Life' wave offer.

As a bonus, cruisers who book by Jan. 31 also receive up to $500 per stateroom on-board credit, depending on cruise length. This is in addition to the 'Have It All' perks of shore excursions, beverages, specialty dining and Wi-Fi that are bundled into the fare.

Wave season is 'the time of year when we put together our best offer with the most requested benefits and amenities,' said HAL's Beth Bodensteiner, chief commercial officer. 'We have some exciting new itineraries for 2024 and 2025, and guest favorites around the world continue to be prominently featured, like Alaska, Europe and the Caribbean.'

Travelers can book their cruise or Alaska cruise-tour with 50% reduced deposits for the first and second guests in the stateroom. Cruise fare savings up to 40% are available on sailings included in the promotion.

Passengers who book by Jan. 31 receive $100 per person on-board credit for cruises six to nine days, $150 per person for Alaska cruise-tours and cruises 10 to 20 days, $200 per person for cruises 21 days or longer and $250 per person for 'Legendary Voyages.'

For North American customers, a $500 Europe air credit offer is combinable with 'Time of Your Life' when bookings are made by Jan. 31. The $500 air credit is per person for up to two guests per stateroom.

Save up to $2,000 with Azamara

Azamara is giving travelers up to $2,000 off per stateroom on select sailings between April 1 and Dec. 31, 2024, when bookings are made between Dec. 6, 2023 and March 21, 2024.   

Travelers can save on such trips as a seven-night 'Greece Intensive Voyage' aboard Azamara Journey from Piraeus with extended stays at every port, giving a total of more than 70 hours in destinations such as Santorini, Crete, Rhodes, Patmos and Mykonos. Fares start for the July  6, 2024 cruise start at $1,323.

An eight-night 'Wine and Culture Voyage' on Azamara Quest offers special gastronomic experiences including guided tours to some of the best cider houses and restaurants in Gijon, Spain, tastings of Porto’s famous port wine, and festive meals of traditional tapas in the Old Town of La Coruña, Spain. The Sept. 3, 2024 cruise is priced starting at $2,160.

Windstar's 'Pick Your Perk'

Now through Feb. 29, Windstar Cruises encourages travelers to 'Pick Your Perk': one free hotel night (which can be used pre- or post-cruise) or up to $1,000 on-board credit. Premium suite guests can select an upgrade to the All-Inclusive Fare which includes all alcohol, Wi-Fi and all gratuities.

Water sports from the ships are a big part of the experience when sailing with Windstar

For a limited time, travel advisors can earn bonus commission and Amazon gift cards for bookings. And Windstar is offering the opportunity to sail free in a suite for two on any Star Legend cruise in the Mediterranean this winter (through March 2024) when advisors book a client for a 2023-24 'Legendary Winter in the Mediterranean' sailing. Clients must be booked by Dec. 31 to qualify.

HX rebranding and up to 40% off

In anticipation of wave season, HX (formerly Hurtigruten Expeditions) and sister brand Hurtigruten (the coastal fleet) launched new visual profiles, websites, social channels, brochures, booking materials, advertisements and more to solidify their distinct brand identities.

'This marks a defining moment as HX and Hurtigruten embark on the next phase of their distinct journeys as leaders in global sustainable travel,' said Daniel Skjeldam, CEO of Hurtigruten Group. Both HX and Hurtigruten are wholly owned by the Group, whose portfolio includes extensive land-based activities such as hotels, restaurants and more through Hurtigruten Svalbard. HX is offering savings of up to 40% in the North American market on select expedition voyages until the end of March.
