Seabourn canceled the July 15 inaugural cruise of its first purpose-built expedition ship, Seabourn Venture.

That 12-day 'Northern Isles and the Viking Homeland' voyage was to embark at London Tilbury and end at Tromsø, Norway.

July 27 from Tromsø

Seabourn currently expects Venture will be ready to begin guest service on July 27 from Tromsø and will then continue with its published itineraries.

'Despite the continuous work and substantial efforts at the shipyard, the ship is requiring additional time for final completion and inspections. We are not willing to compromise on quality, safety or the guest experience, and therefore, we must regretfully cancel its first voyage,' Seabourn said in a statement.

'For the ship to be ready for service, several milestones need to be completed in advance of its first voyage. These milestones, despite rigorous planning and high levels of staffing, have not been met. The last remaining milestones are minor; however, they must be completed to finalize sign-off and delivery of the vessel.

Travel advisors and passengers are being notified.

Fourth delay

This is the fourth delay for Seabourn Venture. It and 2023 sister ship Seabourn Pursuit are being bullt at T. Mariotti.
