Silver Ray is scheduled to join the fleet in summer 2024.
Silver Nova slight delay
The first Nova-class ship, meanwhile, is delayed one month 'due to the global situation,' as Silversea put it. Silver Nova is now expected to embark on its inaugural voyage Aug. 14, 2023, instead of July 15. The cruise will sail round-trip Fusina (Venice).
Emissions-free in port
The Nova-class ships employ hybrid technology consisting of fuel cells, batteries and dual-fuel engines that can use LNG. They will operate emissions-free in port.
'We are proud to have started constructing Silver Ray in collaboration with Meyer Werft, as we continue to push boundaries in sustainable cruise travel,' Silversea President/CEO Roberto Martinoli said.
He credited Royal Caribbean Group for its environmental innovation and said the Nova class represents a 'giant leap forward.'
