Rogers, a former director of marketing for Tourism New Zealand, will present a draft of the strategy at NZCA 2023 in Christchurch on August 18, with the final document due for delivery in October.

NZCA CEO Jacqui Lloyd said the aim is to come up with a ‘unified, balanced and progressive approach’ for the future of New Zealand’s cruise sector and to ensure that cruise is embedded in all parts of the tourism system.

Aligned with national strategy

The strategy will align with the national tourism strategy, building on the strengths of its tourism industry, while ensuring the sustainability and resilience of the cruise sector.

Lloyd said feedback from a workshop at last year’s conference clearly showed there is a need for a coordinated approach to cruise growth and development in New Zealand.
