The centre was designed by New Caledonia Tourism and local design and interior architecture specialists La Planche à Dessin and features traditional Kanak carvings.

Free Wi-Fi

The centre offers passengers free Wi-Fi and there is a destination presentation showcasing the tours and attractions available for their stopover.

A spokeswoman for New Caledonia Tourism told Seatrade Cruise News the centre aims to make cruise ship stopovers hassle-free for passengers and entice them to become repeat visitors to the destination.

Rebounded

After being closed to cruise shipping for 2.5 years as a result of the COVID pandemic, New Caledonia has bounced back since it reopened maritime borders for the return of the first cruise ship — P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Explorer — on October 4, 2022.

This year more than 100 cruise ship visits are scheduled for Noumea.
