P&O Cruises Australia is following its pre-COVID-19 pandemic tradition of delivering Christmas presents to children in Vanuatu.

The 2,600-passenger Pacific Adventure, which departed Sydney on Saturday for a 10-night Christmas cruise to the South Pacific, was laden with gifts wrapped by shoreside staff.

The ship’s crew will distribute them when she calls at Mystery Island on December 21, Port Vila on December 22 and Espiritu Santo on December 23.

A huge event

Barry Nagia, chairman of Mystery Island Tourism Holdings, said the arrival of Pacific Adventure will be a huge event for Vanuatu’s children.

‘I still fondly remember when I was a child and the cruise ship brought presents for all of us children,’ Nagia said.

‘We have put the word out to neighbouring villages of Port Patrick and Umej to bring the young children to the island to meet Santa’s helpers,’ he said.
