This new Middle Rhine itinerary debuts in December and establishes Viking as the first line to operate year-round on Europe’s rivers.
'Many of our guests have sailed the Rhine during other seasons, so we are pleased to offer a new option for those who may be interested experiencing Europe during a quieter time of year,' Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen said.
10-day 'Treasures of the Rhine'
The new 10-day itinerary highlights the landscapes and cultures of the Middle Rhine, a UNESCO Site of turreted fortresses, grand cathedrals, medieval towns and stunning scenery.
Winter offers fewer crowds, easier access to landmarks and opportunities to savor the culinary traditions of Alsace while exploring Amsterdam, Basel and Cologne.
'Treasures of the Rhine' departure dates begin in December and run through early March 2024, with fares starting at $1,999 per person. Through May 31, 2023, Viking's 25th Anniversary Sale is available to residents of the US and Canada who can reserve with a $25 deposit for up to free airfare and savings on all 2023-2025 river voyages.
Additional Christmas Market cruises
In addition, Viking added 20 sailings to this year's Christmas Market river voyages. With more departure dates on the new 'Christmas on the Rhine' and 'Danube Christmas Delights,' Viking expects to carry an additional 3,686 passengers in 2023.
