Viking claims to be the only Western company to build, own and operate vessels on the Nile
Viking's newest vessel for the Nile River, Viking Osiris, was floated out Wednesday at Cairo's Massara shipyard.

The 82-passenger vessel is to debut in August on the 12-day 'Pharaohs & Pyramids' itinerary.

A key year for Egypt

The arrival of Viking Osiris coincides with several key events in Egypt in 2022, including the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum outside Cairo on the Giza Plateau and the 100th anniversary of the discovery of King Tutankhamen’s tomb by Howard Carter and his benefactor, the 5th Earl of Carnarvon.

Privileged Access

Building on Viking’s longstanding relationship with the Carnarvon family, passengers who sail on Viking Osiris will experience Privileged Access to memories from 1922 and the events surrounding the discovery of King Tutankhamen’s tomb.

'We are proud to be the only Western company to build, own and operate ships on the Nile — and we will always maintain our commitment to creating meaningful experiences that are focused on the destination,' Viking Chairman Torstein Hagen said.
