T. Mariotti's Marco Ghiglione and Seabourn's Natalya Leahy shake on Seabourn Pursuit, 'the new expedition jewel'
T. Mariotti handed over Seabourn Pursuit during festivities in Genoa on Monday.

It follows, by a year, sister expedition ship Seabourn Venture.

'With remarkable craftsmanship by the Mariotti team, an abundance of space and the breathtaking style of Tihany Design, Seabourn Pursuit raises the bar for ultra-luxury expedition travel,' Seabourn President Natalya Leahy said. She thanked Mariotti and Tihany Design for 'making our dream come true for our guests.'

Best of both worlds

Leahy said Seabourn Pursuit 'offers the best of both worlds: our well-known signature luxury and elegance with the world of exploration and adventure.'

T. Mariotti Managing Director Marco Ghiglione expressed pride in Seabourn Pursuit, calling it 'another important masterpiece for Italian shipbuilding coming out of T. Mariotti shipyard, demonstrating again that our leadership in this sector is well consolidated.' He thanked Seabourn, Lloyd's Register and Adam Tihany for 'the new expedition jewel.'

Begins service with Mediterranean cruises

The Polar Class 6 Seabourn Pursuit is built for extreme environments but will enter service Aug. 12 on five Mediterranean cruises before heading across the Atlantic and through the Caribbean. On Oct. 10 in Barbados, the ship will begin its expedition journeys to South America, the Amazon and Antarctica into late March 2024.

Following this, until October 2024, Seabourn Pursuit will head to the islands of the South Pacific en route to Australia, where it will explore the Kimberley and Western Australia between June and August 2024. Other destinations include Papua New Guinea, West Papua, Indonesia and a voyage between Melanesia and Chile.
