Crystal Cruises taps veterans of Ritz-Carlton, Silversea in key roles

Jacqueline (Jackie) Barney, most recently of The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, and Roberto Fazi, Spyros Almpertis and Julio Solvas, formerly of Silversea Cruises, joined Crystal Cruises.

These latest appointments come as the company plans the refurbishment of Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony for their inaugural season under A&K Travel Group.

'We are thrilled to welcome these industry veterans to the Crystal family to bring a fresh approach to the brand,' Crystal President Jack Anderson said.

Roberto Fazi

Fazi was appointed SVP marine operations, based in Monaco. With more than 30 years of experience, the past nine at Silversea, he has expertise in newbuilds and refurbishment of both classic and expedition vessels and was involved in ship lengthenings, ice-class conversions and energy-efficiency projects. He earlier spent 11 years with Carnival Corp. and five with V.Ships Leisure, involved with newbuild projects at both companies.

Fazi will supervise the refurbishment of Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity and oversee their operation once back in service. He also will supervise any furture newbuild designs.

Jackie Barney

Barney, SVP marketing, brings more than 17 years of travel industry experience, most recently as VP marketing at The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection as the company launched its first vessel. At Crystal she will oversee global marketing efforts, based in Aventura, Florida.

Prior positions were with Adventures by Disney and National Geographic Expeditions, where Barney led the marketing strategy and sales planning. Earlier roles were with Silversea, Perry Ellis International and Seabourn.

Spyros Almpertis

Almpertis, senior director of port operations, will additionally supervise itinerary planning and fuel management, based in Monaco. He formerly directed worldwide port operations at Silversea. Almpertis has nore than 30 years of cruise industry experience, including shipboard roles, and is a former navy officer of Greece.

Julio Solvas

Solvas joins Crystal Cruises as finance director, based in Monaco. An expert in finance, accounting and taxation, he previously served as VP corporate accounting and tax at Silversea.
